
SUPPORTING THE WALL THAT HEALS in Tuscaloosa
The Mike Spann Detachment of the Marine Corps League is pleased to host the “The Wall That Heals,” a half-scale model of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. This memorial, designed to travel to communities throughout the United States, will be on display at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa from June 9 - 13, 2010.
The Wall That Heals also features a Traveling Museum and Information Center providing a comprehensive educational component to enrich and complete visitors' experiences. The Museum chronicles the Vietnam War era and the unique healing power of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, while the Information Center serves as a venue for people to learn about friends and loved ones lost in the war. Many have expressed interest in helping to fund this magnificent community project. The cost of the bringing this memorial to Tuscaloosa is approximately $9,000. Donation funds received in excess of costs of hosting the Wall in Tuscaloosa will be disbursed to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
